The US garden market is estimated to be worth anywhere between $35 and $100 billion, indeed the trade magazine Nursery Retailer puts it at $116 billion! The US is also the third largest market for exports of garden and leisure products from the UK. 2010 sees the 65th edition of the National Hardware Show which will again be hosted all under one roof at the Las Vegas Convention Centre, with the lawn & garden section occupying both of the South Halls. Traditionally, the lawn and garden section attracts well over half of the 30,000 trade visitors and is attended by many of the leading hardware chains, home centres, department stores, mail order/internet companies, mass merchandisers, garden centre chains and buying groups. Gardener’s Supply, Plow & Hearth, QVC and Lee Valley Tools from the mail order and TV shopping channel sectors; garden centre groups such as Armstrongs and SummerWinds; and key home centre retailers including Home Depot, Lowes, Canadian Tire, Rona and WalMart are among the show’s visitors.
